What Does BIFMA Certification Mean for Office Chairs?

BIFMA (Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association) sets independent testing standards for the safety, durability and structural performance of office furniture, including the widely referenced X5.1 chair standard. A BIFMA-tested chair has passed standardised stress, tilt and load testing — a useful reassurance of build quality, even though it is a US rather than a UK standard.

What Is the VESA Mount Standard for Monitor Arms?

VESA is a standardised pattern of mounting holes on the back of most monitors, commonly 75x75mm or 100x100mm, that lets the screen attach to a compatible arm, stand or wall bracket. Checking a monitor's VESA pattern (and that it isn't VESA-incompatible, as some ultra-thin or curved screens are) before buying an arm avoids a mismatch that prevents fitting altogether.
