Bromine or Chlorine — Which Is Better for Hot Tub Sanitising?

Chlorine and bromine both sanitise hot tub water by killing bacteria, but bromine is more stable at the higher temperatures hot tubs run at and produces less of the sharp smell associated with chlorine, though it is typically slower-acting and slightly more expensive. Chlorine acts faster and is cheaper, making it the more common choice for pools, while bromine is more widely used specifically in hot tubs and spas.

What Does Micron Rating Mean for Hot Tub Filter Cartridges?

Micron rating describes the size of particle a hot tub filter cartridge can trap — a lower micron figure catches finer debris but restricts water flow more and clogs faster, needing more frequent cleaning. Most inflatable hot tubs ship with a standard-rated cartridge, and swapping to a finer-rated one can improve water clarity at the cost of needing to rinse or replace it more often.
